A very scarce Majorcan grape, long time less apreciated as it was considered rustic and only suitable for making young rosé or red wines. It is a low yielding variety. This results in higher than average alcoholic and deep-coloured wines. Mostly blended with other varieties such as Cabernet, Manto Negro or Tempranillo which results in a popular strong, spicy blend. The variety certainly adds in complexity and is used also in order to better undergo barrel ageing. |
