Wine region on the south coast of South-Africa, East of Cape-Town. This region is the virtual centre of the South-African wine industry, with the biggest concentration of quality wine producing wine estates. The wine region and the town of Stellenbosch are named after the second Dutch governor ‘Van der Stel’.
Wards: Jonkershoek Valley, Helderberg, Simonsberg, Helshoogte, Stellenboschkloof, Bottelary, Devon Valley.

The climate is mild with a long hot summer and a cool winter with rain caused by the west winds. The Antarctic Benguela current cools these winds from the sea.
