Situated in the west of the département of Dordogne, Montravel is the first vineyard that one discovers while coming from Bordeaux. Today one produces only white wines. There are three appellations controlées for white wines: Montravel, a dry white wine, aromatic and well very structured, The Côte de Montravel, a complex, soft white wine with floral notes, and the Haut Montravel, a sweet white wine that is more concentrated. Since November 2001 red wines are also allowed under the AOC.
