 Complex calcareous gravelly mineral rich and clayey soils. The best vineyards are covered with ‘galestro’, a rocky, marly, schistous soil.

 The climate is Mediterranean. Summers are hot and stretch into long, sunny autumns. Heat and lack of rain can be a problem throughout the growing season. Winters are mild, as are springs, which can also be humid. Grapes are grown on sides that provide good drainage and exposure to the sun.
